Provide guidance to ensure safety of all campers in the unit at all times. Transport campers to and from trip locations in company van. Take part in 3 overnights with voyagers campers during the course of the summer. Lead unit activities according to the camp schedule. Ensure all unit related paperwork (camper information sheets, unit attendance, camper incident sheets) are maintained, up to date and submitted in a timely manner. Actively assist specialty staff at their respective stations (if necessary). Management of group and/or individual discipline problems. Provide proper care for camp equipment used by the group. Provide proper care for company van used by the group. Ensure creative and constructive use of group free time. Implement theme-week related activities into daily schedule whenever possible. Maintain positive relationships with campers and parents at all times, including showing attentiveness to parents issues. Maintain open communication with directors and ensure all camper and staff related issues are messaged to directors. Any additional tasks and/or duties as deemed necessary and assigned by the day camp site director / assistant director. Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the south shore company information and guidelines for employees as the south shore company summer day camp staff expectations. Represent the south shore company in a positive and professional manner. Attend all required pre-camp trainings as well as scheduled meetings during.
Requirements
Prior experience in working with teenagers in a camp or similar setting. Prior college-level schooling in education, psychology, or youth/teen related field. Ability to lead organized activities with a group of teenagers. At least twenty-one years of age required. Must have a driving license and clean history record. Must have 7-D school pupil transport license (or be able to obtain a 7-D license).
Education
Bachelor degree in recreation, education or a related field desirable
